sir,
13 APR
I am directed to invite your attention to
the fact that a German subject named Hermann Bactke was admitted to the Lunatic Asylum on the 26th. ultimo suffering from mania,
and to request you to be so good as to make arrangements as soon as possible for sending him back to Germany and for defraying the cost of his maintenance and Medical treatment in the Asylum.

I am to aid that though the patient is
stated to have recently served as Engineer on-board the French Stester on board the French Steamer "Hoihow", he had no connec- tion with the Ship at the time of his admission to the Hospital. Mr. Marty, the Ship's owner, states that the patient had previous- ly been paid off and was no longer in his employment. He was therefore admitted to the Asylum merely as a German subject,
and not as one of Mr. Marty's employees.
he Imperial German Consul.

Colonial Secretary.
